Festivity of Deepawali is just over and New Year has begun. Let us hope and continue to dedicate ourselves towards our consistently achieved goal of 24x7 uninterrupted power supply.
While we always look forward to our set targets, it will be equally important for me to convey thanks and word of appreciation for “Team GETCO” on their hard work and achieved stupendous success in organizing SWITCH-2016. It has been very satisfying and rich experience in different areas to contribute and manage a technical summit of such high scale. Messages have been pouring in, from participants with thanks for care and the way whole event was organized. I think the best thing would be to capitalize on this internally as many Engineers from all Circles were part of this event in different capacity and role.
I would like to remind everyone once again on upkeep and maintenance of substations. Recent inspections of our Senior Officers including me are not very encouraging and it calls for paying attention on preventive maintenance norms. For this purpose, Nodal Officers to support and bridge the gap were appointed. We need to review as to why it is not being successful.
Our certification of ISO 9001-2008 Standard will expire next year and we have to go for recertification now under the new Standard 9001-2015, which was issued in September 2015. Essence of Quality in our Management System and different functional processes remains the core, but ISO 9001-2015 Standard guides us to first of all, understand the context of organization & stakeholders and adopt risk oriented thinking in planning process. We will have to form the teams at Circle level and take up workshops on new Standard to enhance our understanding for smooth migration.
Safety remains a matter of concern. Majority of accidents are attributable to negligence and violation of basic requirement like LCP. It is not only a major cost of Non-Quality in GETCO, but also pain and agony for family members of victim.
